Looking for something different to do?  Try a Bloody Mary Crawl in New York City.   There is nothing more fun than grabbing a train to NYC and strolling around to taste NYC’s best bloody marys on a Sunday.

The restaurants below are some of the best Bloody Marys that you will find in New York City.  The crawl is 2 miles from beginning to end so no cab or subway is needed.    We did this crawl in an afternoon and it was so much fun (in fact we also antiqued the same day).

Let us know if there are any other places in downtown to add to the list in the comments below.

  1. Prune:  The Mac Daddy of the Bloody Mary cocktail with over 10 bloody marys on their brunch menu.  Here you will find a tiny place with a retro feel where they make their bloody mary mixes from scratch.   Tip:  Ask for the Ghost of Mary made with their homemade tomato water, it’s on their dinner menu but they will happily serve it at brunch.  Another tip – Visit them around 2:00 PM to not have a wait.
  2. Russ & Daughters Cafe – Grab a bloody mary with an amazing bagel board here.   You can’t beat this old-school joint that is a staple in NYC

Asbury Park Bloody Marys

Asbury Park leads in NJ’s best bloody marys

Asbury Park leads in NJ’s best bloody marys

Asbury Park NJ’s secret bloody mary capital.

Asbury Park NJ has always been one of my favorite places.  Growing up as a little girl I spent many summers on the beaches and boardwalk there and as a Bruce Springsteen superfan, I have spent many an adult night at the Stone Pony waiting for Bruce to show up one night to play a surprise gig

What most people don’t know is that Asbury Park’s food scene is one of the most outstanding in the state of NJ.   It’s because of this that I learned that it’s also the leader in the best bloody mary cocktails that you can find in the state of NJ.

Here’s a list of my favorite places in Asbury Park to chill out and grab a bloody mary that you will remember as one of the best.

Bonney Read located in downtown Asbury Park in the historic Steinbach building serves up their ULTIMATE BLOODY MARY,  3 oz. of Vodka, Tequila, or Gin, Housemade Bloody Mary Mix, Garnished with a Fresh Middleneck Clam, a Jumbo Cocktail Shrimp, a Jumbo Crab Claw, Celery & Bacon, and an Old Bay Rim.

Here you can soak up the history and sip on a fabulously seasoned bloody mary that’s garnished with the freshest of seafood.  The Bonney Read tops my list of the restaurants in Asbury Park that’ truly stepped up the game on the classic bloody mary cocktail.
